Hi! I am Joaquín
I’m a first-generation, Mexican American, college student, and a future lawyer.
Education
I love social change, people, and learning. This multipotentiality led me to study Political Science and Sociology at Washington and Lee University.
Career
My journey into advocacy began in 2021 during my parents’ immigration process.
Over the couple months that I accompanied my parents, I learned that this field relied on empathy and understanding, and required a major change.
In 2022, I immersed myself in my studies at Washington and Lee University, gaining hands-on experience in community development and policy analysis.
I had the opportunity to study abroad in Mexico, where I learned about the complexities of the migration system, and completed an Independent Study Project.
I am always eager to learn from seasoned advocates through mentoring and professional opportunities.
My career dream is to collaborate with passionate individuals dedicated to creating equitable solutions and making a positive impact for our immigrant communities.
